Each year the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WI DOT), Bureau of Transportation Safety, has provided EMS First Responder grant funding to communities around the state. This year funds will be provided to local communities for the initial equipment necessary for newly licensed and credentialed first responders to provide rural first responder EMS services to the communities they serve. This grant is specifically for EMS medical bags, non-disposable equipment and safety devices with these goals:

  • To decrease traffic deaths in Wisconsin.
  • To work in support of the “Zero in Wisconsin” initiative. http://www.zeroinwisconsin.gov/index.html
  • To provide funds for first responder EMS equipment.
  • To provide funds for initial education of first responders.
  • To collaborate with the community to gain buy-in, and develop an action plan to encourage more involvement with the EMS system and the valuable services provided.

Applications must be posted marked no later than September 30, 2016.  Grants will be awarded starting September 30, 2016.
