Patrick Janzen has been with Bell Ambulance as an EMT in June of 2021. Patrick earned his Crew Chief status in May of 2022. He has proven himself to be a reliable leader during the night shift by encouraging others to succeed and put forth their best efforts. In April of 2023, Patrick was promoted to Field Training Officer and most recently, he has earned a scholarship through Bell and has begun working towards his Paramedic certification.
On April 26th, 2024, Bell Ambulance received a call for a person who had “fallen in the sewer”. He and his partner were the first to arrive to the scene. In less than a minute after arriving on the scene, Patrick and his partner discovered that their patient had fallen into a storm drain. Due to the large amount of recent rain, the patient was truly in danger of being swept away by the current. Patrick and his partner immediately sprang into action, updating Dispatch on the acuity of the situation, and grabbing ahold of the patient who was dangling inside the drain until the Milwaukee Fire Department could get there to help extricate the patient. A fellow coworker wrote, “Had it not been for the crew’s courageous action and quick thinking, the patient could have had a very different outcome. They were true heroes for this patient”.
Because his of quick thinking, actions, and efforts, Patrick Janzen has been nominated to be a 2024 PAAW Star of Life.
Congratulations from the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin on receiving the 2024 WI Star of Life Award!
