Jason's journey began as a paid-on-call volunteer firefighter and first responder, igniting his passion for emergency services. He steadily advanced his skills, becoming an EMT, AEMT, and ultimately achieved his paramedic certification in 2005. In 2016, Jason's expertise elevated further when he specialized as a critical care paramedic.
Brian Murley, Operations Manager, commends Jason's diverse background: "Jason brings extensive EMS experience in both ground and air operations from multiple services. This broad expertise makes him an invaluable resource for peers, a strong partner, and an exceptional care provider. Leadership consistently relies on Jason for coordinating various non-patient care activities, from supply chain management to aircraft configuration and schedule template assistance."
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jason finds immense fulfillment in volunteering with Carry the Load, an organization founded by two Veteran Navy SEALs. Its mission is to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor the sacrifices of military members, veterans, first responders, and their families. For the past three years, Jason has served as the East Coast Relay Manager, supervising and coordinating this cross-country walking relay to ensure the safety and success of the event.
When not dedicated to his career or volunteerism, Jason cherishes quality time with his family, wife Randi, and two sons, Gunner and Gannon, along with friends at their camper during the summer months. He also enjoys the companionship of his beloved yellow Labrador, Rizzo.
Jason Santos' unwavering commitment to service, both professionally and through his volunteer efforts, exemplifies the values that make him a deserving recipient of the 2024 Wisconsin Star of Life recognition. His selflessness, expertise, and passion for helping others continue to inspire all those around him.
Congratulations from the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin on receiving the 2024 WI Star of Life Award!
