Travis started at Bell Ambulance in 2023, coming to us from an ambulance service in Watertown, NY, where he is part owner of the family business, a Paramedic, and a Dispatcher. He brought with him over 13 years of EMS experience and eight years of dispatching experience. While waiting for reciprocity for his Paramedic license from New York to Wisconsin, he worked full time as a dispatcher, completing his Dispatch Call Taker training. Travis has proven himself to be a quick learner, good team mate and a humble, all-around great guy.
In October of 2023, Travis answered the phone call that no one wants to hear, but all dispatchers are trained to handle - a pulseless non-breather. He jumped into action quickly, and instructed and encouraged a bystander to perform over 600 chest compressions on the patient as he remained on the line. Paramedics arrived on scene within minutes to assist and bystander, and they were able to resuscitate the patient. Knowing that these success stories are few and far between, and it takes a tremendous amount of teamwork, much of the positive outcome is due to Travis’s quick action and encouragement and being the voice of calm for the caller. It is because of this, that he is nominated to be a 2024 PAAW Star of Life.
Congratulations from the Professional Ambulance Association of Wisconsin on receiving the 2024 WI Star of Life Award!
